During my summer semester in 2017 I was able to participate on a virtual internship with USAID. It was a water sanitation and hygiene (WA-WASH) program in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. It is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
As an intern I edited documents, translation from english to spanish, prepared executive summaries, and other related tasks.
This internship was something that I was very passionate about even if it was just editing documents and proofreading them because these document would end up in the hands of the people who had the power and authority to make real changes in the region of Burkina Faso and knowing that my skills were helpful to facilitate the communication made a difference to me and I know to the lives of others.
I read and translated a lot of documents during my time in this internship, I learned a lot of the struggles that the communities in Ouagadougou go through and the diseases they are exposed for not having accessibility to clean water and proper water sanitation. The West Africa government collaborated with the Spaniard government to bring this issues to the OEA, among other humanitarian agencies to help bring resolutions to these problems. The documents I proof read and translated to spanish would be send to spanish speaking organizations that advocated for clean water, and other essential rights for the people that live in the affected region.
Below you can find two documents of the translations I did from english to spanish, as well as the letter of recommendation from the program director on my performance during my internship.
